RESEARCH

Research in the field of cancer treatment and diagnostics has advanced in recent years. Most
answers about cancer development are hidden in its biology and there is still a long challenging
route to describe cancer’s code.

FINDING

Researchers employ different models to study the biology of cancer, from the interaction
between the cells to the molecular level of genetic code. Using up-to-date technologies, we can
look at the different signals occurring in cancer cells and measure their effect on the healthy
environment.

IDEAS

Inspired by the publicly available scientific images depicting the variability of cancer cells, we
created unique patterns reflecting the peculiar cancer architecture. The palette of our patterns is
similar to the most common visualization techniques and staining used in modern laboratories.

VISUALIZATION

Over many decades, cancer has caused people painful experiences. This creative application of
naturally forming cancer patterns being processed into attractive shapes and designs can bring
people closer to the topic, creating a space for conversations and even revelations.

CREATING

We decided to take an unorthodox approach, connecting space with the most dreaded disease
of cancer, bringing a dystopian touch to the art and its storytelling. Planets take inspiration from
cancer cells, their unique patterns, characteristics and impact.

ARTWORK

Radical approach to modeling medical phenomena such as cancer into new nature inspired art
design may provide a powerful window to learn about the function and impact of cancer on
humans.
